1st outside Bangsamoro region! Mayor Rabat graces groundbreaking of BARMM housing project in Mati City

Mati City Mayor Michelle N. Rabat has attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the first-ever housing project of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) outside its territorial jurisdiction.

The Kapyanan (Kapayapaan sa Pamayanan) housing project in Sitio Butuasan, Barangay Dahican is in collaboration with the local government of Mati.

Some 100 core shelters will be built within the three-hectare land donated by the city government.

The units will be awarded to the members of the Moro community in Mati.

Despite the long history of armed conflicts between the then-rebel Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the government in many parts of Mindanao the past decades, Rabat said Mati City had somehow been spared from it.

“We are unique here in Mati, here we coexist. As the conflict rages, we still maintain good relations with one another. Let’s stop the stereotyping and stigma. This is an extension of the BARMM telling me and telling all of us that they also want peace,” Mayor Michelle said.

BARMM has allotted P70 million for the Kapyanan housing project.
