Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe has led the wedding rites of over 200 couples, the first under his administration.

Some 235 couples participated in the mass wedding held on Thursday, May 30, at the City Coliseum in Tetuan.

The City Civil Registrar’s Office, in collaboration with the Housing and Land Management Division, facilitated the activity.

The couples were members of Homeowners and Urban Poor Associations in the city.

Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja and other local government officials stood as the witnesses in the mass wedding.

Dalipe gave cash gifts of P5,000 each to the youngest and oldest couples, while two couples with the most number of children got P10,000 each. A couple recognized for the longest years of living together also received P10,000.

Zamboanga City 2nd District Rep. Mannix Dalipe, who also pushed for the mass wedding, promised to support the newlyweds by including them in the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP), which will provide each couple with P3,000 cash assistance.
