400 Kiblawan residents benefit from SMI medical mission

Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) on Tuesday announced the success of its recently hosted free medical and dental mission in Sitio Bong Mal, Barangay Kimlawis, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur.

With the host communities within the Tampakan Copper-Gold Project area and several government agencies as its partners, SMI said the mission benefited a total of 400 residents, mostly members of the indigenous communities.

The residents availed of free medical services which included dental works, medical consultations, COVID-19 vaccinations, “Operation Tuli”, medicines and family planning sessions.

Bong Mal is home to a Blaan community circled by mountains. With an elevation of 910 meters, it is situated nearby the borders of Tampakan, South Cotabato and Columbio in Sultan Kudarat.

With all major approvals and permits from the national government secured, the mining firm expressed readiness to begin construction this year and produce its first copper concentrate in mid-2027.
