500 Bilibid inmates transferred to Zamboanga

A total of 500 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City have been transferred to the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Monday, April 1.

The BuCor said 500 PDLs from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City were transferred to San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga City.

“Aside from decongesting the NBP, the transferred PDLs will also augment the manpower needs of the SRPPF in its agricultural programs,” it said.

The bureau noted that those transferred included 200 from the Reception and Diagnostic Center (RDC), 150 from Maximum Security Compound and 150 from the Minimum compound.

During their trip to SRPPF, the bureau said they were escorted by 150 corrections officers.

So far, the Bucor has already transferred this year a total of 2,248 PDLs from NBP to the SRPPF, Leyte Regional Prison, Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, Davao Prison and Penal Farm, and the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm.
