‘Abogado ka pa naman’: Gacal demands Balleque’s apology over remarks vs city

General Santos City Administrator Franklin Gacal demanded a public apology from opposition City Councilor Froebel Kan Balleque over alleged derogatory comments he made against the city government.

Reacting to Balleque’s comments about the “poor fiscal management” of City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao, Gacal criticized Balleque’s attack against the administration.

During his radio program on Friday, Balleque noted the failure of the city to be included in the 2023 Good Financial Housekeeping Passers list of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). He was referring to the January 2024 summary report released by DILG.

General Santos City, however, has been cited in the April 30, 2024 list of performing local government units reviewed by the DILG.

Gacal stressed that as a lawmaker and lawyer, Balleque should have verified his information.

“You owe the government employees, department officials, department heads, you owe the Mayor an apology.
