Accredited taxis allowed to pick up passengers at GenSan airport – CAAP

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Tuesday said members of the accredited taxi cooperatives are allowed to operate at the General Santos City International Airport to pick up arriving passengers.

General Santos City International Airport Manager Joel Gavina said only authorized taxis are allowed to park inside the airport’s waiting area.

He said unaccredited taxis and those without departing passengers are not allowed to enter the airport.

“As of now, ang ina-aallow po natin na mag-park doon sa area po, is iyong taxi cooperative…
Ang hindi nakakapasok, hindi miyembro na taxi at walang laman na paasahero,” Gavina explained before the Sanggunian Panlungsod.

The airport official made the clarification after City Councilor Jane Rivera appealed that regular metered taxis be allowed access at the arrival area.

“Para convenient sa mga darating na pasahero. Mas maganda kung may options sila. Although the Yellow Bus is there, it’s good option if they wanna ride the taxi or take the bus,” Rivera said.

Gavina added that they are already preparing to establish a taxi lane for all CAAP-accredited public transport services.
