AFP condemns treacherous attack vs troops in Maguindanao

The Armed Forces of the Philippine condemned the “ruthless” attack on government troops in Maguindanao del Sur.

The latest incident left four soldiers dead on Sunday morning in Barangay Tuayan in Datu Hofer town.

Major Gen. Alex Rillera, commanding general of the Philippine Army’s 6th ID and the Joint Task Force Central identified the slain soldiers as Privates Marvin Dumaguing and Jessie James Corpuz, Private 1st Class Carl Araña and Cpl. Creszaldy Espertero.

He said the soldiers were on their way to their company command post after buying food supplies for the “iftar,” the evening meal eaten by Muslims at sunset to break their daily fast during Ramadan, when the attack happened.

“Kinokondena natin sa pinakamataas na antas ang brutal na pagpatay sa ating tropa”, Maj. Gen. Rillera said.

Philippine Army chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido also slammed those behind the treacherous attack.

“The Philippine Army condemns the senseless, treacherous, and most heinous acts perpetrated by this terrorist group,” he said.
