Atty. Lalo Matugas distributes Educational Assistance for SIIT Students

Educational assistance has recently been granted to 857 students of the Siargao Island Institute of Technology (SIIT), marking a significant milestone in their academic journey.

These students were identified and validated as qualified recipients under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

As President of SIIT, Atty. Lalo Matugas expressed his gratitude for this invaluable support, acknowledging the efforts of DSWD, particularly Speaker Martin Romualdez and Congresswoman Yedda Romualdez of the Tingog Partylist, who also serves as Chairwoman of the House Committee on Accounts.

Notably, the Bagtik Moserbisyo initiative, spearheaded by Cong. Bingo Matugas and his wife Ethel Matugas, has played a crucial role in extending assistance to students on the island. This assistance aims to help students pursue their education with ease.

Atty. Matugas also expressed his appreciation for the presence of Senior Board Member Bully Navarro, Board Julecs Sunico, Board Sim Castrence, SB Vic Vic Solloso, and SB Aiken Andanar, along with his family, in supporting this endeavor. He underscored the collective effort towards ensuring that the island’s youth can achieve their aspirations and contribute to a brighter future for Siargao Island.
