Authorities still searching for dozens of individuals in Davao de Oro landslide as death toll rises to 27

Authorities are still looking for at least 89 individuals who could have been buried from a landslide in Maco, Davao de Oro province.

The Davao de Oro government said that death toll from the tragedy rose to 27 individuals as of 6 p.m. Friday, February 9.

“Sa kasamtangan, otsentay nwebe (89) kabuok ang atoang missing individuals nga na blotter,” it said.

The provincial government is also seeking assistance for the victims of the flooding and landslide incidents in the province.

“You may give your in-kind or any form of donations at the Provincial Capitol, Cabidianan, Davao de Oro,” it said.

A landslide hit Tuesday night, February 5, at Zone 1, Barangay Masara, burying two buses with around 30 passengers. The affected place was also a residential area.
