‘Bawal na ba magtanong?’ Balleque hits Pacquiao admin’s ‘diversionary tactic’

The word war between City Administrator Franklin Gacal and City Councilor Froebel Kan Balleque continued on Monday.

The city lawmaker this time accused the Pacquiao administration of trying to steer public attention away from the alleged P100 million El Niño aid mess.

In his radio program, the broadcaster-turned politiko denied employing misinformation and black propaganda to discredit the administration of City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao, saying he was merely asking questions about the El Niño program.

“Ang ingon niya JAQing off man tong gihimo ni Atty. Kan. Ibahin mo ako, Atty. Gacal. Ang record nako isip broadcaster, gikan pa, 17 ka tuig nako, will speak for itself. Dili ko ing-ana nga klase nga broadcaster,” Balleque said.

The opposition lawmaker also reminded his fellow abogado that the administration cannot hide behind the principle of the presumption of regularity to keep the public from questioning the El Niño aid program for farmers and fisherfolk.

On Sunday, Gacal rejected the councilor’s plea to release the names of beneficiaries of the El Niño without the consent of these individuals.

“Mao to ang main issue. Ang post nimo may kalabutan aning gihisgutan nato karon, mao’y laing issue, nga gihimo nga diversionary tactic, para malihis ang atensyon sa taongbayan. At bawal na ba ngayon ang magtanong?” Balleque added.
