Bishop calls for protection of Bohol landmarks: ‘Treasures that make our province truly special’

Tagbilaran Bishop Alberto Uy has urged the public to protect Bohol’s famous landmarks.

“It is important for us, Boholanos, to recognize and cherish the unique gifts bestowed upon us, including the extraordinary beauty of landmarks like the Chocolate Hills, pristine white sandy beaches, centuries-old churches, and a myriad of other natural wonders,” he said in a Facebook post.

“We should strive to appreciate and preserve these treasures that make our province truly special,” the prelate declared.

The prelate made the call following reports that the Captain’s Peak Resort was built within the protected area of the Chocolate Hills. Lawmakers have already moved to conduct probes as to why the illegal structure was allowed to be constructed within the protected site.
