CM Ebrahim asks new barangay, SK officials to uphold moral governance for more peaceful, progressive BARMM

Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim has urged the newly-elected Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials to be committed in upholding transparency, accountability and moral governance for a more peaceful and progressive Bangsamoro.

In a statement, Ebrahim acknowledged that elections in some parts of the region were marred with violence.

At least 11 individuals were killed and 14 others were injured in 13 separate poll-related violent incidents in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) during the more than two-month election period, the Commission on Elections said, citing the police report.

“I am aware that election-related violence occurred in some areas of our region. I appeal to all peace-loving Bangsamoro to remember that we can only sustain peace and continue to reap the fruits of the peace process if we safeguard and maintain peace among ourselves and our communities, and ensure that the culture of election-related violence ceases in our lifetime,” Ebrahim said.

He also congratulated the winners in the recent polls and commended the electorate for their participation in the exercise.

“Congratulations, and may you become our active partner in bringing all Bangsamoro barangays to a much greater height of peace and development,” the Chief Minister said.
