Coalition endorses Sulu Gov Tan as its bet for Bangsamoro chief minister in May polls

The BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) Grand Coalition (BGC) has endorsed Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan as its candidate for the Bangsamoro chief minister in the May parliamentary elections.

On its Facebook page, BGC said the decision to endorse Tan was reached after consultations with stakeholders, constituents, officers, and the leadership of its four political parties.

The coalition includes Tan’s Salaam Party, the Bangsamoro People Party (BPP), the Al Ittihad-UKB Party, and the Serbisyong Inklusibo Alyansang Progresibo (SIAP) Party.

BGC cited Tan’s achievement, citing that his record was a testament to good governance.

“Through his leadership, the Abu Sayyaf Group was eliminated. A major obstacle to development was lifted, and now, Sulu is emerging as a model of governance and resilience. This is the same leadership that Governor Tan will bring to our regional government,” the group said.

“We remain steadfast in our call for unity, discernment, and the peaceful conduct of the May 2025 elections,” it added.
