Davao court orders Quiboloy’s arrest

The Davao City Regional Trial Court (RTC) has issued warrant for the arrest of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader and founder Apollo Quiboloy.

In an order dated April 1, Judge Dante Baguio of RTC Branch 12 said that “let the warrants of arrest already issued be implemented immediately.”

Quiboloy is facing charges for violating Sections 10(a) and 5(b) of Republic Act (RA) No. 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act concerning.

The case stemmed from the complaint of a woman who alleged that she got sexual abused by Quiboloy in 2011 when she was still 17 years old.

Baguio said he already issued last March 14 an order for the arrest of Quiboloy but suspended its issuance after granting the motion of the KOJC leader’s lawyers.

Quiboloy’s lawyers explained in their motion that they have a pending motion for reconsideration before the Department of Justice (DOJ) which was asked to withdraw the charges filed before the RTC.

However, Baguio pointed out that since then he has still not received a resolution from the DOJ on the motion for reconsideration.

“Having received none as of this time, the Court declines this time to await,” he declared.
