Dumlao admin, DENR unite for Surigao City’s sea turtle preservation plans

The Surigao City government under the leadership of Pablo Yves L. Dumalo II and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) are working together to come up with sea turtle preservation plans.

This was after a sea turtle, identified as an Olive Ridley sea turtle, was recently spotted engaging in nesting activity on the black sand seashore of Banahao in Barangay Sabang.

“The sighting, witnessed by local beachgoers, underscores the importance of preserving the natural habitat of marine species,” the City Public Information Office (PIO) said.

The City Environment and Natural Resources together with the DENR Surigao del Note conducted a joint site inspection.

“This underscores the significance of ongoing conservation initiatives in Surigao City and reaffirms the community’s commitment to safeguarding its rich biodiversity,” PIO said.
