Efficient checkpoints! GenSan police office erects standby points using container vans

The General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) has erected eight container vans worth P2.4 million to serve as standby points for uniformed personnel at fixed checkpoints in different strategic areas in the city.

Police Chief Supt. Eliseo Tam Rasco, Police Regional Office (PRO) 12 chief, hailed the initiative of GSCPO headed by Senior Supt. Raul S. Supiter for the meaningful and worthwhile project.

PRO 12 said the improvised container vans are fully furnished with a kitchenette, messroom, comfort room, double decker bunks and other facilities to serve as temporary dwelling of personnel on duty.

“It is designed to accommodate the needs of the personnel and likewise serve as a storage room of their weapons and gears for them not to leave their post every time they need to attain their personal necessities somewhere else that makes them unavailable in emergency situations,” it said.

The said initiative is determined to increase the efficiency of the police force as teams can immediately respond on emergencies merited by their increased availability, the police regional office added.

Fund for the project came from the contribution of the personnel and other stakeholders.
