Flood warning issued as LPA spotted off GenSan

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned of possible flooding and landlslides in the southern Mindanao region due to Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and a low pressure area (LPA).

In its advisory on Wednesday, PAGASA said the LPA was estimated at 365 kilometers, east southeast of General Santos City.

“Flooding is possible in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas,” the state weather bureau warned.

It said that the affected areas include Agusan del Norte (Jabonga, Santiago, Kitcharao), Sarangani Province (Malapatan, Glan, Maasim), Agusan del Sur, Davao de Oro, Davao Occidental, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains are being experienced over Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur. Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Davao City, Davao del Sur, and may affect nearby areas.
