GenSan begins preparations for regional sports tournament

General Santos City has started its preparation as host for this year’s Soccsksargen Regional Athletic Association (SRAA) Meet.

City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao on Wednesday led the groundbreaking ceremony for the repair project of the city’s Antonio Acharon Sports Complex.

The city government has reportedly allotted a P69 million budget for the rehabilitation of the track and field, swimming pool and additional electrical installations to make the SRAA 2024 hosting memorable for all the student-athletes.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao also confirmed that the Department of Education-GenSan failed to make its bid for 2026 Palarong Pambansa.

Since the Palarong Pambansa’s inception in 1948, General Santos has hosted the event only once in 1996.

Cebu City will host this year’s Palaro and Ilocos Norte in 2025.
