GenSan City Agri exec no-show at council inquiry on El Niño aid

An official from the General Santos City Agriculturist’s Office snubbed the city council’s invitation to aid shed light on the P100 million El Niño assistance.

City Councilor Frobel Kan Balleque invited CAO Department Head Merlinda Donasco to answer questions regarding the list of beneficiaries following complaints of alleged favoritism and other irregularities.

“In the list of our invitees, we have Ms. Merlinda Donasco of the City Agri. But let it be put on record that there is no one from City Agri who is around now, because I was informed that they were not given authority by the City Mayor’s Office to appear before this august body,” Balleque manifested.

Reached for comment, City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao denied ordering Donasco not to attend the SP session.

“Pinayagan ko man si Mam Donasco… Dili man nako ugali na e control ang DH (department heads) kabalo mana sila tanan,” Pacquiao told Politiko.

Earlier this month, Pacquiao herself clarified that it was the office of Donaso who prepared and provided the list of the intended beneficiaries.

“Dili nato kontrol kay kining listahan, naay listahan daan nga gikan sa City Agri. Kita naga-assist lang ta,” the mayor said.
