GenSan council sets probe into small town lottery anomalies

The General Santos City council set on Tuesday its inquiry on the issues and allegations involving numbers game operator Trento Gaming and Leisure Corporation (TLGC).

Vice Mayor Rosalita Nuñez has invited City Administrator Franklin Gacal to shed light on the issue of small town lottery operations in the city.

Gacal earlier recommended to the council the revocation of the authority to operate of the TGLC, citing several violations of the guidelines prescribed by the city government.

The official said the company has shortchanged the revenue share of the city government amounting to millions of pesos.

“The city, for 16 months, had been deprived of its legitimate share in the STL operation. I firmly believe this is a violation of the SP resolution granting TLGC the authority to operate which is grossly disadvantageous to the city government,” Gacal said.

“Based on official records of the City Treasurer’s Office, the last payment of the city’s share of the STL operation was last January 2023,” he added.
