GenSan LGU holds tree-planting to mark World Water Day

The General Santos City government has conducted a tree-planting activity in celebration of World Water Day in Datal Salvan, Barangay San Jose in this city.

Organized by the City Mayor’s Office-Integrated Barangay Affairs (CMO-IBA) and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), the event held Thursday, March 30, was participated in by local government officials, employees, and members of various rural water works and sanitation associations (RWSAs).

After the tree-planting, CMO-IBA Acting Division Chief Leonard Betonio and CENRO Assistant Department Head and Forester Manuel Torres Jr. led the signing of the Manifesto of Commitment to support the vision of implementing effective and efficient programs to ensure the life-long commitment to equitable access to potable water.

Certificates of participation were also given to RWSAs.

The theme of this year’s World Water Day is “Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible.”
