GenSan LGU to build city college

If everything goes according to plan, General Santos City will soon operate its own city college.

The administration of General Santos City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao has rolled out its plan for the establishment of a city-owned tertiary learning institution.

In a message to Politiko on Wednesday, City Councilor Richard Atendido confirmed that the proposed establishment of the General Santos City College is one of the priorities of the administration.

He said the budget for the construction of the community college will come from the city’s general fund.

“Nasa planning pa ito pero kasama iyan sa mga priority projects ni Mayor. Ang initial funding, kukunin sa General Fund,” Atendido said.

The SP committee on ways and means chairperson also said that the proposed city college will offer science and technology courses.

“Ang i-oofer na courses, iyong wala o kulang sa ino-offer ng mga local colleges natin. Maybe, Science and Tech courses,” he added. Earlier, Pacquiao declared that it is her dream of giving quality and free education for the residents. “Abangan natin iyan. Wala namang bayad ang mangarap,” Pacquiao said.
