GenSan Mayor Pacquiao blames Rivera for city’s financial oversight setback

General Santos City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao said on Tuesday that the city’s failure to make it on the list of DILG’s 2023 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) list, is apparently, the fault of former Mayor Ronnel Rivera and his administration.

Pacquiao explained that the Department of the Interior and Local Government made the evaluation on March 18, 2022 when Rivera was still the sitting mayor of the city.

Pacquiao won the mayoralty race in the May 9, 2022 polls and formally assumed the office in July.

“Ginawa ng DILG ang evaluation on March 18, 2022. Hindi pa ako ang mayor niyan,” Pacquiao said.

Meanwhile, City Administrator Franklin Gacal, Jr. also blamed the past administration’s failure to meet the GFH criteria which resulted the city missing the mark on financial housekeeping.

“It’s the fault of Rivera admin why we failed in 2022,” the official said.

The GFH is one of the minimum requirements for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), particularly for the assessment criteria of financial administration.
