GenSan missed the mark on financial housekeeping

General Santos City failed to make it on the list of 2023 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) passers that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) released on January 25, 2024.

Among the cities in Region 12, GenSan and Cotabato did not pass the GFH standards of the DILG.

Based on the list, the GFH passers in the region comprise four provinces, three cities that include Kidapawan, Tacurong, and Koronadal, and 36 municipalities.

Nationwide, a total of 1,365 LGUs or 80% of 1,715 assessed local government units passed the GFH criteria.

The GFH is one of the minimum requirements for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), particularly for the assessment criteria of financial administration.

Last year, City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao was unsuccessful in keeping the city’s seal of good governance that the city receieved during the administration of former City Mayor Ronnel Rivera.
