GenSan to roll out cashless payments in markets, public transport

The local government of General Santos City led by Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao will launch this week the national government’s Paleng-QR PH program to promote cashless payments in public markets and local transportation, particularly tricycles.

The city government passed an ordinance pushing for the acceptance of digital payments among market vendors, community shopkeepers, and tricycle operators and drivers (TODA).

The measure is in accordance with the Paleng-QR PH plus program co-developed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Baguio City was the first local government unit to implement the Paleng-QR PH program in 2022.
