Gov. Abdusakur M. Tan hosts 2nd National Ulama Summit

Sulu Governor Abdusakur M. Tan hosted the 2nd National Ulama Summit at the Maimbung Gymnasium in Maimbung, Sulu. The summit was attended by several notable figures in the Islamic community, including the Grand Mufti of Region 9 and Palawan, Tuan Abdulbaki Abubakar, as well as Muftis from Davao, Isabela, Lamitan Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, and Sulu. Other guests included Professor Julkipli Wadi, the former Dean of Islamic Studies at UP, Atty. Mehor Sadain, and Vice Governor of Basilan, Ustaz Yusop Alano.

The Sulu Ulama Council for Peace and Development (SUCPD) and Sabeelal-Muhtadeen, both of which are religious organizations in Sulu, worked with the Sulu Provincial Government, specifically the Office of the Governor, to facilitate the partnership for this summit.

The National Ulama Summit serves as a platform for discussion and deliberation among the Muslim religious leaders, scholars, and thinkers. The summit aims to address issues affecting the Muslim community in the Philippines and to come up with resolutions and recommendations that can help create a better future for the country’s Muslim population.
