Gov. Angel Amante Leads Partnership Talks for Bamboo Industry Development in Agusan del Norte

Governor Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante, along with Vice Governor Enrico R. Corvera, Brigadier General Adonis Ariel G. Orio PA of the 402nd Brigade, 29th Infantry Battalion Commander Colonel Cresencio C. Gargar, Board Member Erwin Dano, the NCIP-Agusan del Norte Provincial Director Engineer Cierona Cutar-Molaan, and representatives from the Provincial Planning and Development Office, Provincial Agriculture Office, and the Municipal Local Government Unit of Nasipit, visited the Central Mindanao University to discuss the Agusan-Bukidnon Collaboration for Pro-Active Environment Advocacy and Cooperative Enterprise (ABC for PEACE) initiative. The meeting also included Brigadier General Michelle B Anayron Jr. of the 403rd Brigade, CMU University President Dr. Rolito G. Eballe, faculty members from the CMU College of Forestry and Environmental Science, and other key figures from CMU. Additionally, the Partner Institution PACEM was represented by Dr. Almer M. Alfonso Sr.

The purpose of the visit was to explore a proposed partnership between the Provincial Local Government Unit of Agusan del Norte, Central Mindanao University, the 403rd and 402nd Infantry Brigades, and PACEM to advance the Bamboo Industry Development project in Agusan del Norte. This project is envisioned as a tool for peace and development within the region. CMU presented initiatives and potential interventions they could offer to the province, particularly in terms of technical expertise and ongoing research related to the production of Giant Bamboo species—from planting to harvest and rehabilitation. The meeting took place at the CMU Office of the President in Musuan, Maramag, Bukidnon.

Following the discussions, the group visited the CMU nursery to inspect the university’s “Bamboo Rooting Facilities,” showcasing the practical aspects of their collaborative efforts towards bamboo industry development.
