Gov Dimaporo backs MOA vs illegal recruitment, human trafficking in Lanao del Norte

Lanao del Norte Governor Imelda “Angging” Dimaporo has expressed support for the collaboration of the provincial government with other national government agencies to safeguard overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from illegal recruitment and human trafficking.

The provincial government, together with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), signed an agreement to fortify the Anti-Illegal Recruitment and Trafficking in Persons (AIRTIP) campaign.

“On behalf of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte, it is with great enthusiasm and commitment that I extend our strong support for this momentous collaboration between the DMW, OWWA, DOLE, and TESDA,” Dimaporo said during the recent signing ceremony held at the Mindanao Civic Center Hotel Function Hall in Tubod town.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) outlines several strategic initiatives aimed at bolstering the AIRTIP campaign, establishing OFW Help Desks in every municipality to assist OFWs and their families, and implementing comprehensive programs from DMW, OWWA, DOLE, and TESDA to support OFWs.

As part of the deal, the provincial government said DMW distributed livelihood and reintegration assistance packages to former OFWs during the event.
