Davao de Oro Governor Dorothy M. Gonzaga has expressed hoped that the provincial government would receive the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award.

This was after the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Regional Assessment Team conducted the assessment of Davao de Oro’s required documents in order to be shortlisted for national validation for SGLG recognition.

“Tungod ninyu mao ni atong grado, I apppreciate all your efforts … That would mean we are serving the best interest of our people … we have taken care of the general welfare of everyone,” Gonzaga said.

The validation was held at the Provincial Capitol Lobby recently.

Among the 10 governance areas validated were the following; Financial Administration and Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection and Sensitivity; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; e) Sustainable Education; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; Safety, Peace, and Order; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage, Development, Culture and Arts; and Youth Development.

Under Republic Act 11292, the SGLG is an award, incentive, and recognition-based program of the DILG that acknowledges the outstanding performance of local government units in various areas of governance, encouraging LGUs to continuously improve public services by upholding the principles of transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.
