Gov. Nilo Demerey, Jr. launches Bagsakan Center which Connects Communities in Del Carmen, Siargao

Under the visionary leadership of Governor Nilo P. Demerey Jr., the Dinagat Islands proudly unveiled their Tourism and Agri-Fishery Hub, the “Bagsakan Center,” in Del Carmen, Siargao Islands. Joined by Municipal Mayor Alfred Coro II and Provincial Agriculturist Rico Galinato, Governor Demerey spearheaded a momentous mass blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 23, 2024, marking a significant milestone for both regions.

The Bagsakan Center in Del Carmen is poised to become the nexus for Dinagat Islands’ agricultural products transported to Siargao, fostering closer ties between the two communities. Governor Demerey’s initiative underscores his commitment to supporting Del Carmen Municipality by facilitating the transfer of surplus agricultural produce and more.

In Governor Demerey’s words, this venture signals the initiation of a series of programs aimed at fortifying the relationship between Dinagat Islands and Siargao Island, particularly by bolstering the Agro-Tourism sectors. He expressed gratitude to the warm reception extended by the people of Del Carmen, led by Mayor Coro, upon their arrival at Del Carmen port.
