Gov. Nilo Demerey Jr. Provides Aid in Search for Missing Persons in Dinagat Islands

Governor Nilo P. Demerey Jr., MPM, extended a helping hand to a family in distress on March 1, 2024.

Cordeliza Solitario, a resident of Poblacion, Cagdianao, received financial support amounting to ₱3,000, enabling her to travel to Surigao City with her son in a crucial search for her husband, Alan Solitario.

Alan Solitario and six others have been missing since the early hours of February 29, after setting out on a journey aboard a pumpboat or “busohan.” Their whereabouts remain unknown, casting a shadow of worry and uncertainty over their families and the broader community.

Recognizing the severity of the situation, Governor Demerey’s office took immediate action, not only by providing financial assistance to the affected family but also by coordinating with the Coastguard of Dinagat Islands. This swift move underscores the governor’s commitment to the welfare of his constituents and his readiness to mobilize resources in times of emergency.

The financial aid will support Mrs. Solitario in her efforts to personally follow up on the search and hopefully shed light on the fate of her husband and the other missing individuals. In the meantime, the local authorities, with the backing of Governor Demerey’s administration, are expected to intensify their efforts in locating the missing persons and providing the necessary assistance to their anxious families.
