Gov. Nilo Demerey Meets with DOH Director to Discuss Hospital Developments in Dinagat Islands

In a significant move towards enhancing healthcare facilities and services in the province, Governor Nilo P. Demerey, Jr., MPM, engaged in a productive discussion with Department of Health Regional Director for Caraga, Dr. Cesar C. Cassion, MD, MPH, CESO III.

The main focus of their conversation was on the construction of a Level 1 hospital in the province of Dinagat Islands. This proposed facility aims to cater to the pressing medical needs of the region’s residents, especially in times of emergency. Governor Demerey highlighted the importance of having multiple healthcare facilities in an island province, emphasizing the necessity for a strategic and efficient medical response.

Furthermore, the activation of Basilisa Hospital’s plan to become annexed to Caraga Regional Hospital was on the agenda. This collaborative effort aims to bolster the medical infrastructure of Dinagat Islands, ensuring a comprehensive and prompt response to medical emergencies, especially for the local seafarers.

As an integral part of his commitment to bettering the province’s healthcare landscape, Governor Demerey reiterated his dedication to engaging with various agencies. He seeks to ensure that essential services are extended to Dinagat Islands while also working towards the overall development and improvement of the region.

The meeting, held at the Dinagat District Hospital, was also attended by Mr. James C. Borja, Administrative Officer IV of Dinagat District Hospital. His presence further underlined the collaborative approach being taken to elevate healthcare standards across the province.

These ongoing discussions and initiatives reflect the collective determination of government officials and healthcare stakeholders to deliver accessible and high-quality healthcare to the people of Dinagat Islands.
