Gov. Nilo Demerey’s Initiative Sends Local Workers to South Korea for Agricultural Skills Enhancement

In the Dinagat Islands, an orientation and membership collection event for seasonal workers bound for South Korea was held on May 4, 2024, at the Operation Center in Sta. Cruz, San Jose.

The event, organized by the Overseas Worker Welfare Administration’s (OWWA) Caraga Regional Office, was led by OIC-PSD Yolanda F. Habre, Family Welfare Officer-PDI, and Labor Communication Officer Michaela A. Departure. This initiative, championed by Governor Nilo P. Demerey, Jr. of the Dinagat Islands, is part of the “Seasonal Workers Bound to South Korea” program aimed at eradicating poverty and enriching local agricultural knowledge. A total of 27 workers participated in the program, gearing up to leave for South Korea on May 8, 2024, where they will learn advanced farming techniques to bring back and implement in their home province.
