Gov. Nilo “Remedy” Demerey Jr. Secures 10M Pesos for Dinagat Islands’ Swine Production

The Politiko Leads 10M Donation for Dinagat Islands’ Swine Industry.

Governor Nilo “Remedy” Demerey Jr. and the Provincial Government of Dinagat Islands received a Two Million Pesos check from the Department of Agriculture- Agricultural Training Institute Caraga, representing a part of a 10 Million Pesos donation intended to support the implementation of the Integrated National Swine Production Initiative for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) Program.

The check was formally handed over by OIC-Center Director Jessie V. Beldia, PhD, and was warmly welcomed by Assistant Provincial Administrator Conchita M. Macalua, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Aimee Antonio Jimeno, DVM, and Executive Assistant II Jhon Philip P. So.

This contribution is expected to fund the start of 30 sow-level operations in the province, which includes constructing a building and producing quality pigs to aid hog raisers facing a reduced supply due to African Swine Fever. The first 6 Million Pesos was issued on October 4, 2022, marking the beginning of a significant partnership between the PLGU-PDI and DA-ATI Caraga.

The collaboration, initiated through an agreement signed by Governor Demerey on September 28, 2022, aims to bolster swine production in Dinagat Islands and contribute to the region’s economic recovery and agricultural expansion.
