Gov. Niño Uy Leads Discussions on Critical Road Rehabilitation Projects in Davao Oriental

Governor Niño Uy recently engaged in discussions with representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Provincial Engineers Office (PEO) to provide updates on the ongoing road rehabilitation from Mati City to the Municipality of Tarragona. This critical route connects District II to the East Coast or District I of Davao Oriental Province.

Among the topics discussed was the situation regarding the Tagabakid-Bogakan Alternate Road. This route continues to be utilized by travelers while work on other alternative solutions is underway. Currently, negotiations with landowners along the road are ongoing, as some portions are privately owned. The Provincial Government aims to convert this road from a provincial to a national road to facilitate further road development in the area.

Meanwhile, the DPWH is seeking solutions to rehabilitate the damaged national highway at Sitio Colilisi. Studies are ongoing, including the possibility of relocating the road through the interior parts to bypass the currently damaged section.

Under the directive of Governor Uy, the Provincial Government is also exploring funding possibilities for the Coastal Road project, which will connect Barangay Tagabakid to Lucatan in Tarragona as an alternative route. This initiative reflects the commitment of local authorities to improve transportation infrastructure for the benefit of residents and travelers alike.
