Gov Sali wants Tawi-Tawi cooperate with neighbor countries on education, culture, tourism

Tawi-Tawi Governor Yshmael “Mang” I. Sali has sought cooperation with neighboring countries in education, cultural preservation, and tourism development and promotion.

He made the call during his speech before businessmen and economic stakeholders from Malaysia, Sabah China, Brunei, Indonesia, and the Philippines during the Sabah China Economic Conference on Wednesday, August 23, at Sabah International Convention Center (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Sali acknowledged that Sabah is an important partner for mutual economic development, especially being the closest neighbor state within the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA).

“Our (Tawi-Tawi) proximity to Sabah vis-à-vis the economic dynamism within the BIMP-EAGA has proven time and again that our position along this growth area has even created more opportunities, especially with the state of Sabah that remains steadfast as our traditional trading partners for centuries,” the official said.

“Our presence is vital for the overall cooperation not just in business linkages and economic development but we are also looking forward to collaborating in education, cultural preservation, and tourism development and promotion as part of our extensive and whole-of-province approach,” he added.
