Governor Yshmael “Mang” I. Sali of Tawi-Tawi recently spearheaded the “OVP Gift Giving sa Bongao at Simunul” initiative, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President of the Philippines (OVP) and with the support of Inday Sara Duterte, to commemorate the holy month of Ramadan. In partnership with the OVP BARMM Satellite Office and in coordination with the Tawi-Tawi Provincial Government led by Governor Sali, the initiative reached out to three barangays, distributing Eid boxes, rice, preserved dates, and school bags.

Under the leadership of Provincial Cooperative Officer Ms. Radjindra Tischer and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer (PDRRMO) Mr. Hadjimar Matba, the delivery of gift packs to the beneficiaries was efficiently coordinated. The distribution locations and quantities of the items included:

Tongsinah, Bongao: 300 Eid boxes, 10 kilograms of rice, preserved dates, and 500 school bags.
Tarawakan, Bongao: 50 Eid boxes, 10 kilograms of rice, preserved dates.
Mongkay, Simunul: 50 Eid boxes, 10 kilograms of rice, preserved dates.
The success of the initiative was made possible with the assistance of friends from Zamboanga City, including Dr. Ben Susulan, Ms. Ansheva Susulan, and Ms. Gemma Arsula, who facilitated the transfer of packages to Bongao. The gesture of solidarity and support during Ramadan exemplifies the spirit of community and compassion, reflecting the shared values of unity and generosity.
