Governor Nilo P. Demerey, Jr. Leads Discussion on Dinagat Islands Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System

Governor Nilo P. Demerey, Jr., GSC, MPM spearheaded a vital discussion today, May 13, 2024, focused on the Dinagat Islands Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System Technical Working Group (DIAFES-TWGI). The meeting took place at his workshop located in the IJN Yamashiro Building, Brgy. Quarinta.

The primary objective of the gathering was to evaluate and assess the plans and programs for the Agri-Fishery Extension System intended for implementation within the province. Governor Demerey and the attendees aimed to identify potential improvements and enhancements to these programs in collaboration with relevant government agencies.

Particular attention was given to understanding the needs of local farmers and fishermen in the province, with a focus on identifying and implementing solutions to address these needs effectively.

The meeting saw successful collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Provincial Agriculture Office led by Provincial Agriculturist Rico Galinato, the Provincial Veterinary Office headed by Provincial Veterinarian Dra. Aimee A. Jimeno, and representatives from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-PDI. Additionally, Biosystems Engineers from the Department of Agriculture were present, further enriching the discussion.

Furthermore, representatives from various Municipal Agriculture Offices across the province actively participated in the dialogue, contributing valuable insights and perspectives.

Governor Demerey’s leadership in convening this important discussion underscores the commitment of Dinagat Islands to fostering sustainable agricultural and fisheries practices, ensuring the prosperity and well-being of its residents.
