Man shot dead in General Santos City

A man was gunned down on Monday morning after a drinking spree in General Santos City.

Local media have identified the victim as Ian Fernandez from Lote, Barangay Calumpang.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim was about to go home after a drinking session with four companions when he was shot by an unidentified suspect around 2 a.m. He died while on the way to Dr. Jorge P. Royeca Hospital.

This was the 24th shooting incident reported in the city since January of this year.

On Saturday, a 38-year old pedicab driver was also gunned down in Purok Mudia, Brgy. Labangal.

The General Santos City council last week raised the alarm over the spate of killings and other crime incidents that had been hounding the city.

City Councilor Jonathan Blando has manifested to invite General Santos City Police Office Director PColonel Nicomedes Olaivar, Jr. to update the public on the peace and order situation of the city.
