Mayor Constantino thanks DA for P10-M swine production project in Malungon

Mayor Tessa Constantino of Malungon, Sarangani has expressed her gratitude to the Department of Agriculture for turning over P10-million community-based swine production to the farmers in the municipality.

The recipients are members of the Malalag Cogon Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association (MaCARBA) of Barangay Malalag Cogon.

The project includes a P6 million-worth Swine Bio-secure and Climate-controlled Finisher Operation Facility, 300 heads of piglets worth P2.4 million, and P1.6 million-worth of feeds, disinfectants, and biologics.

The facility is one of the big-ticket projects under the CY 2023 INSPIRE or Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion Program initiated by the Philippine National Livestock Program.

It aims to address the health and economic threat brought by the African Swine Fever (ASF) disease to the livestock industry.

Malungon is presently under surveillance zone and there are no reported ASF cases in the municipality.

Constantino thanked the DA and her fellow public servants for fulfilling the mandates of “paghatod og serbisyo sa katawhan,” through the provision of developmental projects.

She also congratulated the members of MaCARBA and urged them to work together in unity and set aside conflicts and indifferences for the association to thrive and prosper.
