Mayor Dalipe cancels F2F classes in Zamboanga City on April 4-5 due to extreme heat

Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe has ordered the cancellation of face-to-face classes in all levels in both public and private schools in the city on April 4, and 5 due to extreme heat brought about by the El Niño phenomenon.

His order was based on Resolution 01 approved by the Zamboanga City Task Force El Niño during its meeting Tuesday, April 2.

Dalipe also directed the adoption of a flexible working schedule for vulnerable groups, such as persons with disability (PWDs), senior citizens, lactating and pregnant women, and those with comorbidities, in local and national government offices/ agencies.

The city government said the mayor is set to issue an executive order, to be concurred by the Sangguniang Panlungsod granting authority to all school heads and administrators to suspend on-site classes, and heads of government offices to implement flexible working schedule for vulnerable groups or employees, if and when the heat index reaches 40-above degrees celsius.
