Mayor Dalipe forms one-stop-shop to help fireworks blast victims in Zamboanga City

Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe has ordered the setting up of a One-Stop-Shop (OSS) that would assist the families and individuals affected by the pyrotechnic disposal explosion that left 30 uniformed men and civilians injured.

The city government said the OSS would also receive complaints for damages.

It would include personnel from the City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Health Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Zamboanga City Police Office, and Barangay Council of Cabatangan.

“All parties concerned are advised to visit the One-Stop-Shop for any concerns relative to the explosion,” the city government said.

The blast occurred in Barangay Cabatangan Monday afternoon, July 8, after police authorities hauled the remaining unexploded fireworks from the scene of the June 29 explosion in Tetuan that killed five people and injured 30 others.

The fireworks were reportedly drenched in water before being hauled to Cabatangan for controlled disposal. However, what was supposed to be a controlled detonation turned into a massive explosion.

The blast damaged houses and government vehicles and shattered windows as far as Gov. Camins Avenue.
