Mayor Dalipe leads opening of Zamboanga City gov’t’s sports fitness, recreation program

The Zamboanga City government led by Mayor John Dalipe has kicked off its annual Sports Fitness and Recreation Program with a series of competitions espousing a work-life balance for better health and increased productivity.

With the theme, “A healthy body and mind towards productive employees of the City Government of Zamboanga,” the program is a yearlong activity highlighted by sports events, the city government said.

Dalipe, Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja, and some members of the City Council graced the opening program Friday, April 5.

The City Hall employees showcased their talents in four competitions; Ballroom dance, Zumba, Hip-hop, and the Search for Mr. and Ms. Fitness 2024.

Dalipe cited the importance of sports and fitness recreation in the promotion of a healthy workforce, expressing belief that sports offers a sturdy platform for employees to practice discipline and maintain strong relationships among colleagues.

City Sports Director Dr. Cecil Atilano, whose office organizes the annual activity, said the program aims to promote wellness and camaraderie among city employees, encouraging them to maintain a healthy lifestyle for better productivity and overall well-being.
