Mayor Dalipe leads Zamboangueños in commemorating 82nd Araw ng Kagitingan

Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe has led the city in paying tribute to the heroes of Bataan during the commemoration of the 82nd Araw ng Kagitingan or Day of Valor.

A 21-gun salute was made at the Freedom Fighters Memorial Shrine in Rizal Street early Tuesday morning, April 9.

Dalipe offered flowers at the Memorial Shrine as he thanked the members of the Philippine Veterans Association in Zamboanga and their spouses and children for their service to God and country.

Mamerto Pacarro, 103 years old and the oldest veteran survivor from Pinan Zamboanga del Norte, was present in the event.

Themed “Pagpaparangal sa Kagitingan ng mga Beterano: Saligan para sa Nagkakaisang Pilipino,” this year’s activity emphasizes the importance of honoring the bravery and sacrifices of the veterans in today’s society.

The activity was organized by the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office -9, in partnership with the Veterans Federation of the Philippines-9 and the city government.

Military and police officials were also among those present in the event.
