Mayor Dalipe mobilizes assistance to 700 fire-hit families in Zamboanga City

Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe has ordered the concerned local government agencies to assist some 700 families affected by fire that hit Purok 2 in Arena Blanco Monday morning, September 18.

Dalipe rushed to the site to facilitate response.

The affected families have been temporarily housed at the Arena Blanco East Elementary School, which serves as evacuation center.

Initial reports indicated that 120 houses made of light materials were razed to the ground.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) dispatched two tankers and ambulance to augment resources of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and other volunteer groups on site.

The Philippine Coast Guard provided its water assets with fire suppression capabilities.

Citing BFP report, DRRMO head Elmeir Apolinario said the fire broke out 8:30 a.m. that reached second alarm.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) conducted verification and tallying of the affected families for assistance distribution.
