Mayor Elizabeth T. Matugas Spearheads Major Housing Initiative with National Support

In a significant move towards addressing housing needs in the region, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dapa, under the leadership of Mayor Elizabeth T. Matugas, extended a warm welcome to key national housing officials on March 4, 2024, marking a pivotal moment in local and national government collaboration.

Undersecretary Rovin Feliciano of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the National Housing Authority (NHA) Caraga’s delegation, led by Regional Manager Ms. Erasme Madlos, arrived in Dapa to advance the housing initiatives under the 4PH Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program.

The visiting officials, greeted by Mayor Matugas, Vice-Mayor Gerry M. Abejo, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, and various department heads, landed at Sayak Airport in Del Carmen, signifying a strong partnership between local and national entities in pursuit of common goals.

The agenda included a productive meeting and orientation session held at the Mayor’s Office, followed by a comprehensive site inspection aimed at laying the groundwork for the groundbreaking ceremony of the national housing program in Dapa.

This initiative is a testament to the concerted efforts of the LGU of Dapa and the national government to provide affordable and decent housing for Filipinos, addressing one of the country’s most pressing social issues.

Mayor Matugas expressed gratitude for the collaboration and support from the DHSUD and NHA, emphasizing the importance of such partnerships in making tangible improvements in the lives of the community’s constituents. “This project is not just about building houses; it’s about creating homes and communities where our people can thrive. We are deeply thankful for the support and commitment from our national partners in making this dream a reality for our constituents,” Mayor Matugas stated.
