Mayor Garay OKs ordinance granting amnesty for real property taxpayers in Bislig City

Bislig City Mayor Florencio C. Garay has approved an ordinance granting tax amnesty to delinquent real property taxpayers of the city.

Ordinance No. 2024-01, which was passed recently by the Sangguniang Panlungsod and later approved by the mayor, cited the powerful magnitude 7.2 earthquake that badly hit the province and the aftereffects of the Covid-19 pandemic as the reasons for the tax condonation.

“A one hundred percent (100%) relief amnesty on interest and penalties for delinquent real property taxes, inclusive of prior years up to the year 2023, is hereby granted to real taxpayers in Bislig City,” the Ordinance read.

It also said no public auction of delinquent real property shall be held during the period of tax relief or amnesty.

Not covered by the Ordinance are delinquent real properties that have been disposed of through public auction either by the provincial or city governments, to satisfy real property tax deliquencies;

Real properties that have pending cases in court for real property tax deliquencies; and

Real properties with tax delinquencies that are being paid under the existing compromise agreement.

The taxpayers can apply for the amnesty from February to July 2024.
