The Politiko is proud of his team’s feat in terms of disaster risk reduction.
Mayor John Dalipe’s commitment to excellence in disaster risk reduction and management has been formally acknowledged as its City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) attains the prestigious ‘Beyond Compliant’ recognition during the 23rd Gawad KALASAG awards.
This noteworthy achievement was bestowed upon the city by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, underscoring Zamboanga’s exceptional efforts in disaster preparedness and humanitarian assistance.
The Gawad KALASAG, standing for Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan (Disaster and Calamity Response, Self-Reliance for Survival), is a crucial and mandatory assessment for all Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (LDRRMOs).
The primary objective of this award is to promote and acknowledge the tireless endeavors of local government units, non-government organizations, and private entities in fortifying disaster preparedness and response mechanisms within their respective communities.
Zamboanga City’s success in securing the ‘Beyond Compliant’ status reflects the city’s holistic approach to disaster resilience. Under the leadership of Dr. Elmier Apolinario, the head of CDRRMO, the city has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to safeguarding its residents and minimizing the impact of disasters.
Dr. Apolinario’s leadership has been pivotal in ensuring that Zamboanga City not only meets but exceeds the stringent standards set by the Gawad KALASAG assessment.
The ‘Beyond Compliant’ recognition is a testament to the city’s proactive measures, innovative strategies, and effective implementation of disaster risk reduction initiatives.
The acknowledgment also extends congratulations to CDRRMO for their commendable efforts, recognizing their pivotal role in achieving this milestone.
As the saying goes, “Enhorabuena con diaton CDRRMO bajo na liderato di Dr. Elmier Apolinario por el buen esfuerzo” (Congratulations to our CDRRMO under the leadership of Dr. Elmier Apolinario for their excellent efforts).
