Mayor Judith Miquiabas and Vice Mayor Atty. Alfons Janssen Marcera, commemorated the unveiling of the rich heritage of Fort Almonte with an Archeological Exploration Report and Book Launching event held at Rianas, MCC, Tubod town on Friday, February 16.

Fort Almonte, situated within the premises of Liangan East Elementary School in Bacolod, is a symbol of historical significance that has intrigued many. In an effort to demystify its past, the Provincial Government partnered with the University of the Philippines-Diliman School of Archaeology for a meticulous archeological exploration.

Dr. Leee Anthony M. Neri, the lead researcher of the exploration team, provided an overview of the archeological findings, highlighting the architectural structure and artifacts unearthed at the site. According to Dr. Neri, “The only gold there is the fort itself, and that is the heritage – the treasure, and that is the precious gold that we have in Lanao del Norte.”
