Mayor Pacquiao leads turnover of e-jeepneys to local cooperative

General Santos City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao led on Monday the turnover of additional units of electric Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) to a local transport cooperative.

The city government announced that the brand new e-jeepneys are equipped with modern features to enhance passenger comfort and safety.

“Malipayon ta nga gidawat nato karong buntaga para sa atong taga-coop nga magmalampuson gyud ang ilahang activity karong buntaga… para matabangan na pud ang atong taga-coop diri sa General Santos,” Pacquiao said during the simple turnover ceremony.

Last year, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) chose the city as part of the agency’s promotion of low-carbon urban transport systems.

Local transport group Lagao Drivers Operators Transport Cooperative (LADOTRANSCO) was selected by UNDP as one of the recipients of the agency’s Promotion of Low Carbon Urban Transport Systems in the Philippines (LCT) Project, which aims to support the shift of transport cooperatives’ fleets towards EVs for a safer, healthier, and more comfortable transportation.
